Design Brief:
To design a man cave, somewhere to entertain guests and watch sporting fixtures on a large wall mounted television. To also provide occasional ancillary sleeping accommodation.
Being on a level flood plain, site preparation work was minimal – a welcome change! However, given the makeup of the ground, the friction piles had to be particularly deep to get down below the soft silty soil to something capable of bearing the weight of the building.
Cedar cladding was vertically hung to match the timber cladding on their house. Aluminium in-line sliding doors and casement windows coloured Anthracite grey externally complimented the cedar wonderfully.
A small patio to the front of the building marked the completion of the build. The large aluminium sliding doors really opened up the building to the fantastic landscaped gardens. A great success.
